CHRISTMAS MUSIC
Although I got MANY MANY suggestions from my students on what Christmas music to listen to (mostly the Justin Bieber mistletoe album), I decided to do a Kenny Chesney song "All I Want for Christmas is a Real Good Tan." Most of them are unfamiliar with the Southern accent and most of them know the words to popular Christmas songs (i.e. "All I Want for Christmas is You").
Also, it's sort of a calming song, so I found a youtube video of a fireplace and dimmed the lights as the students worked on it. Depending on their level of English, you'll have to listen once or twice. Even for the "really good kids" some words are a challenge. I had the kids work in pairs and fill in the blanks. Below is my copy, and the bolded words are the ones I left blank.

Some of the things the kids didn't know:
- The expression: Let me put a bug in your ear.
- What a Pina Colada is (I played the Pina Colada song. "if you like Pina Coladas...." Some STILL didn't know. Some recognized it from Shrek.
- What Silent Night is (I played the song)
- That "baby" is a word for a girlfriend/lover not an actual baby (I even sang the Justin Bieber song "Baby," and they were shocked the song wasn't about an actual baby).
